Capcom has announced the Capcom Games Competition. This will be the first competition for students, which is open to participants aged 18 and over studying at universities in Japan.

Here's What We Know

Participants will form teams of up to 20 people and create games using development tools, including Capcom's proprietary RE Engine, which they will access via the cloud.

The teams will be assigned roles in line with typical game development positions and will be supported by Capcom's professional developers. Participants will have six months to create and submit their projects.

Capcom hopes that this competition will help students better understand the modern game development process. The winners will receive support in the production of games with the possibility of commercial release.

"We are committed to strengthening the video game industry through collaboration with educational institutions, promoting research and training talented professionals in a safe environment," the company said in a statement.

The competition will run from 9 December 2024 to 17 January 2025, and the results will be announced at the end of January.
