According to the latest rumours, the cost of the iPhone 18 Pro may increase due to the use of more expensive 2-nanometer TSMC processors. Apple is expected to be the first to use these chips in 2026, which will significantly increase the cost of manufacturing new iPhones.

Here's What We Know

Switching from 3nm to 2nm process technology could cost Apple an additional $35 per processor, a 70% increase in cost. This cost increase will likely be passed on to consumers, resulting in higher prices for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Meanwhile, standard iPhone 18 models will likely remain with 3nm processors to maintain affordability.

The new 2nm chips promise improved performance and power efficiency, as well as reduced size. In addition, the iPhone 18 Pro may get an under-screen Face ID sensor, which will reduce or completely remove Dynamic Island on the front of the device. The new models are also expected to feature a wide-angle lens with variable aperture to improve depth and bokeh effects.
