Matt Booty, President of Gaming Content and Studios at Microsoft, was recently asked about the PS5 port of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle during his media tour. In an interview with Variety, he confirmed that the decision to release games for other consoles is made on a case-by-case basis. In the case of Indiana Jones, the launch on PS5 was postponed until spring 2025 due to production reasons and the desire to provide a great experience for Xbox players.

Here's What We Know

Boothy said that this decision was based on the game's production schedule and the desire to ensure quality for Xbox players first and foremost. This suggests that Microsoft is planning a similar approach for future releases, first on Xbox and then on PS5.

Although there are exceptions, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the audience there is so large that it would be strange not to release the game on PlayStation, but story-based games will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms at first.

As a reminder, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was released first on Xbox Series X|S and PC on 9 December, and the PS5 version is expected in spring 2025. This will be part of Microsoft's new strategy for multi-platform releases as the company seeks to expand the availability of its games.

It is also already known that after the success of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Lucasfilm Games would like to expand the franchise with new games.
