In 2024, the Ukrainian Defence Forces received 6,000 long-range drones
The Ukrainian Defence Forces have received more than 6,000 long-range attack drones since the beginning of 2024, including Lutyi, Firepoint and other models.
Here's What We Know
They are actively used for deep strikes in Russia. Most of the drones remain classified, but a lot is already known about the most famous drone, the Lutyi.
This attack drone was first used on 3 May 2023 to attack an oil depot in the village of Volna on the Taman Peninsula. At the time, it was the only copy used experimentally to assess the ability to hit targets deep behind enemy lines. Today, Lutyi is successfully completing missions.
The drone has an integral two-girder low-flying design with fibreglass reinforced with metal mesh. Its warhead can weigh up to 75 kg. Thanks to a powerful engine with three propeller pusher screws, the Liutiy is launched from a runway or high-quality road surface, ensuring precise damage to important targets of the aggressor country.

To simplify logistics, the design of the unmanned aerial vehicle requires disassembly into separate main parts.
Interestingly, the Defence Forces also received more than 40,000 reconnaissance multirotor drones, including more than 12,000 night drones, as well as 5,000 aircraft-type reconnaissance UAVs such as Shark, GOR and Furia. In addition, more than 2,000 reusable strike UAVs, such as Nemesis, Bat, Vampire, and more than 5,000 reusable FPV copters, have been delivered.
As a reminder, in November, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine plans to produce at least 30,000 long-range drones by 2025.
