Disney plans to create a live adaptation of The Tangled Tale of Princess Rapunzel

Michael Gracie, of The Greatest Showman fame, is in talks to direct a live-action adaptation of A Tangled Up Story for Disney. This new version will be a modern interpretation of the classic fairy tale of Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm and is a revival of the 2010 Oscar-nominated animated film of the same name.

The screenplay for the film was written by Jennifer Katelyn Robinson, and the producers will be Christine Burr and Lucy Kitada. Although plot details have not yet been disclosed, it is expected to follow the main plot of the animated version.

Released in 2010, the animated film A Tangled Up Story became a cult project, starring Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as the charming thief Flynn. The film earned more than $590 million at the global box office and gained popularity for its music composed by Alan Menken.
