Nissan has revealed an electric version of the iconic GT-R R32. The project, which started in March 2023, has been completed and this electric "Godzilla" will soon be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Here's What We Know

Forget the legendary RB26DETT - the 2.6-litre turbo engine has been replaced with an electric heart by a team of enthusiast engineers. The car made its debut last month at the R's Meeting at Fuji Speedway. Nissan says the project is designed to redefine the BNR32's charm with modern electrification. The car's aesthetics have barely changed: the same outline, but without the fog lights, and the brake calipers are now bright orange.

About technical specifications Nissan is silent, but if the all-wheel drive was retained, the GT-R may have two electric motors. The production Nissan Ariya Nismo produces 430bhp and 600Nm, well above the original 276bhp and 368Nm of the petrol R32. At the same time RB26DETT in the stock version often exceeded 300 hp, and with additional modifications produced even more.

What's next?

Electric GT-R R32 will be the star of Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 (to be held on 10-12 January). Together with it will show the final version of the R35 - GT-R Nismo Special Edition for the Japanese market.
