Ammunition for HIMARS, off-road vehicles and Javelin: The United States has allocated a new package of assistance to Ukraine worth $500 million
The State Department says the United States has allocated a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
The package is provided under the US president's reduction authority, meaning that the weapons are transferred directly from US army warehouses. The new package includes a wide range of ammunition and military equipment, including ammunition for HIMARS rocket systems and 105-mm and 155-mm cannon artillery.
In addition, the Ukrainian army will receive ammunition for anti-drone systems and HARM anti-radar missiles, Javelin and TOW anti-tank missiles, AT-4 hand-held disposable grenade launchers and ammunition for small arms.

The package also included HMMWV military off-road vehicles; MRAP armoured vehicles; light tactical vehicles; unmanned aerial systems; and chemical, biological and nuclear weapons defence equipment. The tranche also includes demolition equipment and ammunition and spare parts, ancillary equipment, services, training and transport.
This support package is part of an expanded security assistance programme announced by US President Joe Biden on 26 September 2024. This is the 72nd such assistance package from the Biden administration provided to Ukraine since August 2021.
