Motorola promises five Android updates for new phone models
Motorola has announced significant changes to its software update policy. Instead of the traditional three Android updates for premium models and two for the mid-range, the brand will start offering five updates for new smartphones.
Here's What We Know
The decision was a response to criticism from users who compared Motorola's limited support to other manufacturers that offer up to seven updates.
The first phones to receive five updates will be the Motorola Edge 50 Neo, Moto G75 and ThinkPhone 25. The Moto G75, a relatively inexpensive mid-range model, also made the list, which gives hope for further support for other mid-range devices.
However, this improvement only applies to newer models. Flagships such as the Edge 50 Pro and Razr will not receive more than three updates.
In general, Motorola has not only increased the number of updates, but also improved the speed of their implementation. For example, Android 15 is already available for some models, such as the Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Ultra, which shows an improvement over previous years.
