Windows Central insider Jez Corden has reported that the era of constant Xbox exclusives is "over".

Here's What We Know

This year, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, and Hi-Fi Rush, which were previously Xbox exclusives, have already been released on PlayStation. And in the spring, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on PS5.

Also during The Game Awards 2024, the first game trailer for The Outer Worlds 2 was presented, which is scheduled for release in 2025. An interesting point was that the PS5 logo appeared alongside the Xbox and Steam logos, which underlines Xbox's new strategy of multi-platform release of its games.

According to Jez Corden of Windows Central, Xbox doesn't intend to limit its titles to Xbox exclusivity, but plans to release them on PlayStation over time.

This change in strategy may indicate Microsoft's shift from a hardware manufacturer to a publisher and service provider. While some commentators have expressed concerns about the future of Xbox as a console, others believe that multiplatforming could have a positive impact on the industry as a whole.
