Apple is reportedly planning to launch a foldable iPhone in 2026
According to the latest information, Apple is planning to release its first foldable iPhone in 2026. The company has been developing a foldable device for a long time, but the release date has been constantly postponed, so 2026 may not be the deadline.
Here's What We Know
According to The Wall Street Journal, the device will feature an inward-folding screen with a diagonal of at least 7 inches, which is larger than the iPhone 16 Pro Max with its 6.9-inch display. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a 6.7-inch foldable screen.
Apple experimented with outward-folding screens, but ultimately opted for an inward-folding design similar to Samsung's Galaxy Flip series of devices. The company had previously encountered problems in developing the hinge and display coating, but has now overcome most of the key hurdles. Apple executives are pushing for the device to be released in 2026, although the company may delay the launch for another year for refinements.
Apple is also reportedly working on a larger device with a screen that folds out to 19 inches, intended to be used as a laptop, but the plan is to release a foldable iPhone first.
