YouTube is testing voice comments for better author and fan interaction
YouTube has started testing a new feature that allows creators to post voice memos in the comments of their videos.
Here's What We Know
The feature is only available to some creators in the US for now and works through the YouTube iOS app. Authors who have this feature enabled can tap on the sound wave icon when replying to a comment, record their response, and publish it as a voice comment. All users will be able to listen to these comments, as well as see a transcript button below the voice memo to read the comment if they don't want to play the audio recording.

YouTube hopes this experiment will lead to a more meaningful relationship between creators and their fans. This year, the platform has focused on building features around community and fan interaction. In March, YouTube began allowing creators to share exclusive Shorts with their subscribers, and in September rolled out a Discord-like space on an author's channel for discussions between fans.
