Ford E-Transit with extended battery: 402 km on a single charge for 64,590 euros

Ford dealers in Germany have started taking orders for the Ford E-Transit with a new 89 kWh battery. Thanks to the increased battery range of the electric van has increased by 27% - up to 402 km on the WLTP cycle. The price of the new version starts at €64,590 excluding VAT. The first deliveries are scheduled for spring 2025.

Here's What We Know

The Ford E-Transit appeared on European markets in 2022 with a range of up to 316 kilometres thanks to a 68 kWh battery. Since then, competitors have introduced electric vans with the ability to travel more than 400 kilometres from a single charge, to which Ford has responded by modifying its model with a larger battery.

The novelty is available in two body variants:

• Van: from €65,990 (net) or €78,528 (incl. VAT)
• Chassis: from €64,590 (net) or €76,862 (incl. VAT)

Prices for the new vehicles are around €4,000 higher than the version of the model with a smaller battery (€61,590 for the van and €60,790 for the chassis).

What else has changed?

• Faster charging: the version with the 89 kWh battery can be charged from an AC unit with up to 22 kW instead of 11 kW. Ford has also increased the DC fast charging power from the current 115 kW to 180 kW, so that the charging process from 10 to 80 per cent will soon take only about 28 minutes (it was 37 minutes).
• Heat pump: installed to improve energy efficiency, as in the E-Transit Custom.

Versions with different wheelbases (L3 and L4), vans for 3.5 to 4.25 tonnes, as well as single and double cab models are available for ordering. The maximum payload for the van is up to 1,429kg and for the chassis up to 1,783kg, which is slightly less than the models with a smaller battery due to its weight. Cargo capacity is up to 15.1 cubic metres. Towing capacity remains at 750kg.

Options include a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function with up to 2.3 kW to power external devices, which is particularly useful for commercial use.
