Apple Watch loses leadership in the global smartwatch market to Huawei
According to the latest data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), global sales of Apple Watch smartwatches in the third quarter of 2024 decreased by 12.8% to 22.5 million units.

The overall market for smartwatches and fitness bracelets decreased by only 1% to 139 million units sold in the period from July to September.
Apple has ceded leadership in the global smartwatch market to its Chinese competitor Huawei. Huawei increased its sales by 44.3%, selling 23.6 million units.
The success was driven by innovative models, such as the Huawei Watch D2 with certified medical blood pressure measurement, as well as the rapid growth of the wearables market in China, where 45.8 million units were sold.
Xiaomi took third place with 20.5 million watches sold and a market share of 14.7%. Its popularity grew thanks to the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 and Xiaomi Watch S4.
Samsung also showed an increase of 24.3% with 11.5 million units sold, thanks to a wide range of products from the Galaxy Fit3 to the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Apple maintains its advantage only in the watch segment, excluding smartwatches.
