Chris Barrett, the former director of Destiny 2 and Marathon, has filed a lawsuit against Sony Interactive Entertainment, claiming that his dismissal for alleged misconduct was just a cover to avoid paying the $50 million he was owed under his employment contract after Sony acquired Bungie.

Here's What We Know

In the 81-page lawsuit, Barrett also seeks $100 million in compensatory damages and other significant amounts that were promised to him as part of retention agreements and various severance packages. According to the documents, he was to receive $84 million as a result of Sony's $3.6 billion deal with Bungie.

Barrett claims that his dismissal was a planned move by Sony to avoid payments that were due to him.

Now it remains to be seen how the case develops and what the possible consequences are for Sony and Barrett. It remains to be seen whether the parties will reach a settlement or whether the case will go to trial.
