During The Game Awards 2024, Catly, a virtual pet simulator with photorealistic cats, was presented. After the announcement, there were speculations that the game's trailer was created with the help of generative artificial intelligence, and that the game itself could use blockchain technologies and NFTs.

Afterwards, the authors denied these accusations, and now they have shown a trailer that confirms their words.

Here's What We Know

Catly developers have updated the game's Steam page with a new gameplay trailer and screenshots, responding to the accusations of using generative AI and blockchain technology. The trailer, which is currently only available on Steam, shows a variety of cats roaming surreal natural landscapes, as well as the ability to customise cats and their clothing.

The developers also confirmed that the game uses Unreal Engine 5 to implement hyper-realistic fur.

And this trailer really makes it clear that the cats are not generated by AI, but people still have a lot of questions about the game, so we are following the project to see what will come of it.

Catly is positioned as a game for cat lovers, offering an open world with photorealistic cats and various activities. The game is scheduled for release in 2025 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Apple Watch.
