Hyundai is in talks with Samsung to produce chips for its unmanned vehicles. These chips will be manufactured based on Samsung's 5nm process technology.

Here's What We Know

The co-operation with Samsung will allow Hyundai to reduce its dependence on foreign suppliers such as TSMC and cut costs by manufacturing domestically. Hyundai is expected to produce cars with its own chips by 2026. For Samsung, the collaboration will be an important step in strengthening its position in the unmanned car chip market, which is expected to reach $29 billion by 2030.

Tesla has already chosen Samsung to manufacture its next-generation Full Self-Driving chips. Having Hyundai as a Samsung customer will be a significant boost for Samsung Foundry, which is looking to commercialise its 3nm process and attract more customers in the unmanned car market.
