Durango R/T and SRT Hellcat retirement cancelled: Dodge has decided to extend production of HEMI-powered vehicles
Dodge has announced that it will continue production of the Durango R/T and Durango SRT Hellcat models, which were originally scheduled to roll off the assembly line at the end of December. These iconic HEMI V8-powered SUVs will move into the 2025 model year.
Here's What We Know
Dodge said in a press release that the decision was made due to high demand for high-powered versions of the Durango. The company didn't go into details, but the move follows the resignation of Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares. According to CNBC, he was in favour of ending HEMI production despite opposition among management.

- 5.7-litre V8, 360 hp.
- 6.2-litre V8, 710 hp.
- 3.6-litre V6, 293bhp.
Prices for the 2025 Durango start at $41,995, but for the R/T Dodge is asking to shell out from $54,495. The SRT Hellcat special edition SRT Hellcat is priced at $113,720.
