The first Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered foldable smartphone, the Oppo Find N5, may come out sooner than the company's other flagship, the Find X8 Ultra

Oppo is gearing up for a busy start to 2025 with the launch of several new devices including the Oppo Find N5, Find X8 Ultra and Find X8 Mini.

A recent post by Oppo Find product manager, Zhou Yibao, on Weibo revealed the launch sequence of the Find N5 and X8 Ultra. According to him, the Find N5 foldable phone will be unveiled first, followed by the Find X8 Ultra. He added that both the devices will be impressive. The launch of the Find X8 Mini was unfortunately not mentioned by Zhou Yibao.

As for the specifications of the Find N5, Chinese whistleblower Smart Pikachu has revealed some data in this regard. According to him, the smartphone will feature a large foldable screen with support for 2K+ resolution. It is expected to be the world's first foldable phone based on Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

The device's camera will include a 50-megapixel Sony main sensor and a periscopic lens for improved zoom. The Find N5 will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor Find N3, and will also get water resistance and structural reinforcement for improved durability. The Find N5 is expected to be released after Chinese New Year 2025, probably in February, and will be renamed OnePlus Open 2 for the global market.
