Apple is working on a smart doorbell that will be able to unlock the door using Face ID technology.

Here's What We Know

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman ), this doorbell will connect to a smart lock and recognise residents' faces to automatically unlock the door. The system is expected to be compatible with existing HomeKit-enabled locks, but Apple could also partner with a lock manufacturer to create a complete solution.

Development is at an early stage and the product may not hit the market until late next year. The device would help Apple compete with the likes of Amazon and Google with their Amazon Ring and Google Nest devices, which would be part of the company's expansion into the smart home space.

In addition to the doorbell, Apple is also developing a security camera for indoor use that will work with the smart home hub expected next year. The entire system will be equipped with the latest technology to ensure the security and privacy of user data.
