INEOS has built a monster on wheels: the Kaiju Quartermaster SUV
The Australian division of INEOS Automotive has created a unique version of the Grenadier SUV - Kaiju Quartermaster. The name "Kaiju" translates from Japanese as "giant creature" or "monster", which is associated with the brutal appearance of the vehicle and pays tribute to the popular in Australia off-road vehicles for travelling long distances in sparsely populated areas.
Here's What We Know
The Kaiju Quartermaster is based on the Quartermaster Cab Chassis, a foundation for vehicles with high off-road capability and practicality. The project was realised in collaboration with leading accessory manufacturers Norweld, Rhino-Rack, Brown Davis, REDARC, JMACX, GME, BF Goodrich, MAXTRAX and STEDI.
The engine of the Kaiju Quartermaster is not specified. However, BMW's 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines are available for the standard model: a 286bhp petrol engine and a 249bhp diesel engine. The gearbox is an 8-speed ZF automatic with a reinforced torque converter. The all-wheel drive vehicle also has differential locks and a two-speed transfer case.
The SUV gets a 168-litre auxiliary tank from Brown Davis, which increases the total fuel capacity to 258 litres along with the factory tank. Also installed were RS3 Pure Sine Wave inverters from REDARC and an Alpha150 lithium battery.
INEOS Automotive has taken the unusual step of having the vehicle warranty cover certain components from official partners if they are installed through dealers.
The Kaiju Quartermaster will be used at various events and for promotional purposes in Australia over the next few months.
