IRIS-T, Patriot, Leopard tanks and more: Germany hands Ukraine a major military aid package

Germany continues to provide military support to Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

Today, the Bundeswehr announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which includes, among other things, the country's critical IRIS-T and Patriot air defence systems, as well as Leopard tanks.

The new aid package includes:

  • 15 Leopard 1 A5 tanks;
  • 2 Gepard self-propelled air defence systems with spare parts;
  • 30 MRAP armoured mine-resistant vehicles;
  • PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer;
  • 12 armoured vehicles with kinetic defence systems;
  • 7 Caracal landing jeeps;
  • IRIS-T SLM surface-to-air missile system with missiles;
  • IRIS-T SLS surface-to-air missile system;
  • 2 Patriot launchers;
  • 2 TRML-4D radars;
  • ammunition for Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks;
  • 30 Vector drones, 24 RQ-35 Heidrun drones, 14 Hornet XR drones;
  • 5 AMPS helicopter self-defence systems;
  • 45 dive scooters;
  • 12 Zetros trucks and 8 Zetros refuelling tankers;
  • 120 GMW grenade launchers,
  • 200 MG4 machine guns,
  • 420 MK 556 rifles,
  • 80 HLR 338 sniper rifles,
  • 100 CR 308 rifles;
  • 52,000 rounds of 155 mm,
  • AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinde guided missiles;
  • 65,000 rounds of ammunition for Gepard launchers.

In addition, Germany transferred generators, tourniquets, tents, 120mm mortar ammunition, mines, demining equipment, and small arms ammunition to Ukraine.
