MacBook Air with M4 chip may appear before iPhone SE 4 and iPad 11
Apple is likely to make a number of announcements in the first half of 2025. Among the possible new products are updated MacBook Air, iPhone SE 4, iPad 11, the second version of AirTag, and improved iPad Air.
Here's What We Know
According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, new MacBook Air models with the M4 chip may be introduced before other devices. They are expected to be announced in the form of a press release on Apple's website between January and March. The rest of the devices may appear during the traditional spring presentation in March or April.
According to preliminary information, the MacBook Air will not receive significant design changes. The main updates will be a new M4 chip and some improvements, including the possible addition of a Centre Stage camera and the transition from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Earlier this month, in the release of macOS 15.2, Apple accidentally confirmed plans to release new MacBook Air models in 2024. The software found files belonging to two Macs that have not yet been officially announced. These devices are listed as "Mac16.12" and "Mac16.13", which may be the codenames of future MacBook Air models.
The leaked software mentions the models "MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)" and "MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025)". This may confirm that Apple is working on new devices that are probably already at the final stage of development.
According to the results of Geekbench testing, the M4 exceeds the performance of the M3 by about 25% in multi-core mode, which promises a significant increase in speed.
It is worth noting that all this information is based on assumptions and leaks that have not yet been officially confirmed. Apple has not yet made any statements regarding the exact timing of the launch of new products.
