According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may start mass production of the new M5 chip series in the first half of 2025.

Here's What We Know

The M5 chip is expected to be the first in the line, followed by the M5 Pro and M5 Max in the second half of 2025. The most powerful chip, M5 Ultra, is likely to be ready only in 2026.

This chip launch schedule is reminiscent of the previous update of the Mac line with M4 chips. According to forecasts, in October 2025, Apple will update the MacBook Pro with M5 chips, and the MacBook Air will receive new processors in the first half of 2026. It is not yet clear whether Mac Studio and Mac Pro will receive the update in 2026 or 2027.

Information about updates for the iMac and Mac mini remains unknown, as these models do not always receive updates every year.

According to Kuo, the new M5 chips will be manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process known as N3P. This will allow for significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency compared to the previous M4 chips.

The analyst also notes that Apple intends to use these chips in its artificial intelligence servers, which will improve data processing and reduce heat thanks to the new CPU and GPU architecture. This will help improve performance in AI-related computing tasks and provide greater stability under heavy loads.

This information is unofficial, as there have been no official statements from Apple yet, and the launch dates of the new chips are subject to change.
