Xiaomi says Redmi Turbo 4 will be the first smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chip
MediaTek has officially unveiled the Dimensity 8400 chipset, which is the world's first mid-range Android chip with all the big cores in the processor.
Here's What We Know
After the chip announcement, Redmi announced that their new Redmi Turbo 4 smartphone would be the first device to receive the new SoC. However, unlike the standard version, the Redmi Turbo 4 will be equipped with a customised version of the chip - Dimensity 8400-Ultra, as Xiaomi often adds the "Ultra" suffix to MediaTek chips for its models.
The Dimensity 8400 aims to provide high performance in budget models, particularly for mid-range devices that can demonstrate the performance of flagship models. This is in fact MediaTek's response to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Elite chip, which is also expected to hit the market. There are rumours that Xiaomi may be working on another model, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro.

According to an insider at Digital Chat Station, this Pro version may get a Snapdragon 8s Elite processor and a high-capacity 7000mAh battery. The regular version of the Turbo 4 will have a 6500 mAh battery and 90W fast charging support. In addition, the Redmi Turbo 4 will feature a 50MP primary camera, a 1.5K LTPS display, and an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.
These smartphones are expected to be available at competitive prices. The predecessor of the Redmi Turbo was launched in China at a price of 1999 yuan (approximately 274 USD), so we can expect the new products to go on sale in the coming months.
