Literary classics will come to life in IMAX: Christopher Nolan's next film will be The Odyssey
Universal Pictures has announced that Christopher Nolan's next project will be The Odyssey, a mythical action film shot using the new IMAX technology. The film will be released in cinemas on 17 July 2026 and will be the first to present Homer's main saga on the big IMAX screens.
Here's What We Know
The Odyssey tells the story of the journey of Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, who has been trying to return home for ten years after the Trojan War. This epic work, written in the 8th or 7th century BC, will be another film in Nolan's biography.
The film has already confirmed the participation of stars such as Matt Damon, who is returning to Universal after the success of Oppenheimer, as well as Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o and Robert Pattinson. So we're looking forward to a stellar cast on screen.
This film will be Nolan's second collaboration with Universal Pictures after the successful Oppenheimer, which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Nolan is known for his epic works such as The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Dunkirk, so fans are looking forward to a new interpretation of one of the most famous works of world literature.
