Alfa Romeo recalls Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover due to brake pedal defect
Owners of the 2019-2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio should check their cars: a possible defect in the braking system could cause the brake pedal to disengage, leaving the driver with the only option of using the parking brake.
Here's What We Know
The problem affects about 2,100 vehicles in the US and 80 in Canada. According to FCA US, the mount that connects the brake pedal to the brake booster can fail. This threatens to completely disconnect the pedal from the brake system. In such cases, drivers will have to use the electronic parking brake to stop the vehicle.
The fault can be indicated by a loose brake pedal and unusual noises when the pedal is depressed. The problematic components were supplied by Continental Automotive Systems.

What to do.
FCA announced the recall and plans to send official notifications to car owners after 7 February 2025. As part of the recall campaign, Alfa Romeo dealers will check the mounting condition, repair or replace the brake boosters. Defective components that have not yet had time to be fitted to the cars will be removed and replaced.
