Samsung Galaxy S25 can support the Qi2 wireless charging standard, but only through a special case.

Here's What We Know

Two years ago, the new Qi2 standard was introduced, which uses a magnetic connection system similar to Apple's MagSafe. Now, there is information that Galaxy S25 may receive Qi2 support, but there are some nuances.

Recently, a list of accessories for the Galaxy S25 was leaked, including a Magnet Case, which led to speculation that the smartphone would support Qi2. However, it is not yet known whether the phone will support magnetic connection, like MagSafe, via Qi2.

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), the organisation responsible for the Qi standard, has confirmed that any device bearing the Qi2 logo supports Magnetic Power Profile (MPP), a magnetic connectivity system borrowed from MagSafe. Given this, the Galaxy S25 may not receive the Qi2 logo, which means that the smartphone will be able to charge at 15W, but without magnetic charging.

However, the Magnet Case, which has recently appeared on leaks, is likely to receive Qi2 support and magnetic charging. Therefore, if you want to use Qi2 accessories such as wireless chargers, power banks, or wallets, you will probably need to buy an original Samsung case. This is similar to the situation with the OnePlus 13, which does not support MPP but has magnetic charging cases.

Samsung is expected to implement full Qi2 support in its flagship smartphones by 2026, which will allow these devices to be used with useful accessories such as charging stations, mounts, wallets, and others.
