According to the latest rumours, MediaTek has started working on a new Dimensity 9500 chipset that will use a cluster of cores similar to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

Here's What We Know

The Dimensity 9500 is expected to be built on TSMC's improved 3nm N3P process and will include ARM Cortex-X930 and Cortex-A730 cores. MediaTek is reportedly not planning to use custom cores such as Qualcomm's Oryon. The new "2 + 6" core configuration will allow the Dimensity 9500 to better compete with the second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite and Apple A19 by using two powerful cores instead of one.

Multitasking performance is expected to improve by 20 per cent with ARM SME (Scalable Matrix Extension) support. While it's too early to talk about a specific release date for the chipset, rumours indicate that MediaTek could unveil the Dimensity 9500 late next year. It is important to note that the information has not been confirmed in any way yet, and should be treated with a degree of scepticism.
