The iPhone 17 may use a design like the original iPhone
According to the latest rumours, Apple's iPhone 17 may ditch the flat edges in favour of rounded edges inspired by the design of the original iPhone.
Here's What We Know
The source claims that Apple has introduced a new manufacturing process that changes the way the glass back panel is joined to the metal frame, resulting in curved edges like in older models. Also, early leaks of the iPhone 17 design pointed to other cosmetic changes, including a redesigned camera overhang.
While the iPhone as a whole has maintained its overall appearance over the years, Apple continues to change individual components from time to time. For example, the original iPhone debuted with rounded edges, and a few years later, the iPhone 4 began using straight-edged bezels. Similarly, the iPhone 6 used rounded corners until the iPhone 12 Pro revived the sharp bezel that many find uncomfortable to hold.
However, these are only rumours for now and a lot could change by the actual announcement of the iPhone 17 lineup. Apple's new smartphones are expected to be announced in autumn 2025.
