Hyundai has teamed up with drifter Keiichi Tsuchiya, known as the "Drift King", to create a special version of the Ioniq 5 N electric car. The car was revealed in an official video teaser. The official presentation will take place on 10 January at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Here's What We Know

Judging by the short video, the electric hot-hatch received a number of modifications. The dodger kit includes a new carbon fibre front splitter, side skirts and a large roof-mounted anti-wing. DK Edition lettering can be seen on the rear pillars and boot door.

Japanese driver Keiichi Tsuchiya also appears in a cameo role in the video teaser, further signalling his collaboration with Hyundai's N division.

Hyundai back in 2023 published a video of Tsuchiya drifting the Ioniq 5 N on an Australian track. The Drift King described the Korean electric car as "fun" and "playful", adding that the one changed his perception of Hyundai Motors.

The specifications of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N DK Edition are yet to be revealed. The standard version of the Ioniq 5 N produces up to 650 hp (478 kW) from two electric motors, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. Among the electronic "tricks" is the N torque distribution system with drift function, which can be further enhanced in the DK Edition.
