Annie Altman, sister of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, is suing her brother, accusing him of sexual abuse that, she claims, began in their childhood and continued from 1997 to 2006.

Here's What We Know

The lawsuit alleges that the abuse began and took place in the Altman family home when Ann was just 3 years old and Sam was 12. Ann alleges that her brother sexually abused her, resulting in bodily injuries and serious psychological effects, including depression and emotional distress.

The Altman family, including Sam himself, his mother and two younger brothers, have issued a statement denying all allegations. They claim that Ann suffers from mental health issues, "refuses necessary treatment and lashes out at family members who are genuinely trying to help her." The family also noted that they have tried to help Ann in various ways, including financially.

Despite this, Ann has decided to go to court, seeking more than $75,000 in damages. This amount is the minimum required for a federal lawsuit of this nature. But if the case goes to a jury trial, Annie and her attorney will seek "an amount that fully compensates her for what happened to her."

This lawsuit marks the first time these allegations have been made on an official level. Ann had previously made similar statements, but only on social media. The case caused a wide public resonance, given Sam Altman's fame in the technological sphere.
