Norway has allocated about 60 million euros (700 million Norwegian kroner) to purchase drones for Ukraine. This was announced by Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram during a meeting in the Ramstein format.

Here's What We Know

"Ukraine continues to experience an urgent need for additional military equipment to protect itself from Russian aggression. Drones are an important part of these efforts, both for the protection of critical infrastructure and for use on the front line," said Gram.

The Minister also stressed the importance of international coalitions that provide support to Ukraine in the short and long term.

The Norwegian government's statement emphasises that Ukraine's independence and its right to determine its own foreign and defence policy are critical to the security of Norway and Europe.

As a reminder, on 16 December, Norway announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth 230 million euros. This assistance is aimed at supporting the Ukrainian Navy, including demining, protection of civilians and military training.

The package also includes the transfer of equipment from the Norwegian Armed Forces, the purchase of military equipment for further transfer, as well as developments within the Maritime Coalition aimed at innovation and autonomy.
