Audi has lost to Tesla in global sales for the first time - Bloomberg

Tesla delivered 1.79 million cars to customers in 2024. Audi's sales for this period totalled 1.67 million cars. Thus, the American manufacturer of electric cars for the first time in history sold more cars than the premium brand from Germany, Bloomberg reported.
Here's What We Know
Last year, both companies faced a decline in demand for their products. Tesla's deliveries were down 1.1 per cent from a record year in 2023. Audi, for its part, sold 12% fewer cars.
Audi sales fell in key markets including Germany, China and North America. Deliveries of all-electric four-ring models fell 8% to about 164,000 units.

In response to slowing sales, Audi has started to cut back on production. The company even plans to close its Brussels plant due to low demand for the Q8 e-tron electric crossover produced there.
In 2025, Audi intends to update some models, including the A7 sedan and Q3 crossover, to support sales. It is also expected to expand its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) lineup as an alternative to all-electric models.
