The Ukrainian Defence Forces have launched a missile attack on a chemical plant in Bryansk specialising in the production of explosives and ammunition.

Here's What We Know

"The Bryansk Chemical Plant named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR is engaged in the manufacture of industrial explosives, processing expired ammunition and creating products for the Russian Ministry of Defence.

The published videos show numerous explosions and a fire caused by the strike. Based on these materials, Dnipro Osint has independently confirmed that the strike was on the territory of the plant.

At the same time, the governor of the Bryansk region, Aleksandr Bogomaz, said that air defences had destroyed all targets. However, in addition to the missile strike, local residents also recorded UAV flights.

"The Kyiv regime made a massive attempt to launch a combined missile strike on the territory of the Bryansk region. The air defence forces of the Russian Ministry of Defence destroyed all targets," he said.

The plant has the capacity to produce more than 50 types of ammunition and 15 types of explosives. In 2023, it was reported that it was engaged in equipping, assembling and repairing ammunition that was sent to the warehouses of the occupation army. In addition, one of the key areas is the assembly and repair of products for MLRS, including Uragan, Grad and new modifications of Tornado-G.

This is not the first attack on the plant. At least five UAV strikes were reported earlier: On 13 October, 14 and 21 November, 30 December 2023 and 5 April 2024. However, this is the first time missile weapons have been used.
