Apple has no plans yet to equip the new MacBook Air with OLED displays

Apple plans to equip the next MacBook Air with a display similar to the one used in the MacBook Pro. Instead of the expected OLED panel, the new MacBook Air will get an oxide TFT LCD panel.

Here's What We Know

This decision may be due to the high cost of OLED technology in the laptop segment. The weak sales of the latest iPad Pro are probably due to the high price associated with the expensive OLED screen. Therefore, Apple has decided to use oxide TFT LCDs as a temporary solution until the cost of OLED production can be reduced.

The first MacBook Air with OLED displays are not expected to hit the market until 2029 at the earliest. Oxide TFT LCDs offer many advantages over the standard amorphous silicon TFT displays used in current MacBook Air models. They offer higher electron mobility, which improves image quality and overall performance. This technology has already been demonstrated on the MacBook Pro, offering a smoother picture and improved visuals.
