The updated Kia EV6 has been given simulated engine and gearshift sounds (+video)
The updated Kia EV6 for the 2025 model year in the most powerful and fastest version gets what its closest relative, the Hyundai IONIQ 5N, already has - simulated engine and gearshift sounds. The electric car is already available for test drives in its home country of South Korea and local YouTube channel MotorWeekend has revealed the peculiarities of its sound.
Here's What We Know
In the short review, you can hear the Kia EV6 GT's powertrain "roar" in place with a pleasant baritone, reminiscent of the performance of the turbocharged engine in the Hyundai Elantra N and other cars from Korean conglomerate Hyundai Motor.
Another video demonstrates the work of the "Virtual Shift" gearshift simulator. The driver shifts into Sport mode, then, as in the Ioniq 5 N, uses the paddles that are normally used to adjust regenerative braking to shift between different simulated "gears". As with the Ioniq 5 N, the idea is to simulate an internal combustion engine-style performance feel and control power output, but without any emissions.
The channel also provides a more detailed review of the electric car.
The updated Kia EV6 GT
Apart from the aforementioned simulated engine sounds and gear shifts, the power output of the Kia EV6 GT has increased from 576bhp to 601bhp in Standard Mode and 641bhp in GT Mode. Designers also changed the front of the car, and the regular (non-GT) version has a larger capacity battery.
