Elon Musk looks set to work alongside Trump in the White House
Elon Musk has a chance to settle in the West Wing of the White House, which will allow him to work even closer to President Donald Trump.
Here's What We Know
This is part of his ambitious project to cut government spending by $2 trillion. So far, Musk seemed to be ready to work in a different room - the Office of the Executive Director in the Eisenhower Building - but his unbridled desire to be closer to the president forced a change of plans.
Trump himself expressed his desire to provide Musk with such access. The billionaire has already received a special pass to work in the White House and has started official activities by receiving a government email address and filling out the necessary documents to participate in the project.

The project Musk is leading is known as the Department of Government Efficiency, and it aims to make significant cuts in federal programmes. Musk is working with engineers from Silicon Valley, many of whom will be distributed across federal agencies. One of the distinctive features of the project is the use of baseball caps with the inscription "DOGE". The US Digital Office is now called DOGE.
While many aspects of the plans remain secret, there are questions about whether Musk will become a "special government employee". This question has important legal implications, as it determines whether Musk is subject to conflict of interest restrictions, particularly in the context of his businesses that have multi-billion dollar contracts with the US government.
However, Musk and his allies are considering options to avoid the strictures of ethics law. His ambitions to cut costs and reform government structures could affect many areas, from the Pentagon to the State Department.
