Michael Schumacher's Ferrari: the legendary driver's first personal sports car is up for auction

Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's first personal Ferrari, a 1996 F355 GTS, will be sold at RM Sotheby's auction in Paris on 4 February. The car, painted in a shade of Le Mans Blue with a cream leather interior, was specially customised by Schumacher after he joined the Ferrari team.
Here's What We Know
According to the service book, the car was delivered to Weber Management GmbH, owned by Schumacher's manager Willi Weber, on 30 April 1996 - two days after the European Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, where Schumacher finished second. He predominantly used this Ferrari in Munich, where the car underwent its first service on 5 May 1996, with 1,639 km on the odometer.
A special feature of this F355 GTS is Schumacher's autograph on the seat and numerous press photos of the time showing him with the car. The car received Ferrari Classiche certification in 2020, which confirms that the engine has been replaced, although there is speculation that the original engine was upgraded back when it was delivered to Schumacher.
The current owner purchased this Ferrari in 2004 and has had it regularly serviced at authorised Ferrari service centres. The last major maintenance was carried out in September 2024. This lot is expected to attract significant attention from collectors and motorsport fans given its historical value and association with one of the greatest drivers in Formula One history.
