The European Union has ordered the production of the latest Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-300 drone
Schiebel, a member of the SEACURE consortium led by Thales, has received an order for the latest Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-300 drone, which has been selected for a major European defence project.
Here's What We Know
The company received a grant agreement under the European Defence Fund project. The aim of the initiative is to develop unmanned solutions for anti-submarine and underwater warfare.
SEACURE brings together 35 companies from 13 European countries. Its task is to detect, classify, identify and track underwater threats.
The CAMCOPTER S-300 will be the main unmanned aerial system in this project. It is capable of flying for more than 24 hours with a camera and radar or 6 hours with a payload of up to 250 kg.

This is the first drone in its class with vertical take-off and landing to achieve such characteristics. It was first demonstrated at Euronaval 2022. The device is 4.8 metres long, 1.9 metres high and 0.9 metres wide. The maximum speed is 120 knots, and the cruising speed is 55 knots. The SEACURE project itself is planned to be completed with large-scale tests by 2028.
