Several well-known gaming communities on Reddit, including r/SteamDeck, r/MonsterHunter, r/WOW, r/PCGaming, and r/Nintendo, have announced that they will ban posts containing links to Twitter.

Here's What We Know

These bans are part of a wider movement on Reddit to restrict content from Twitter. Some subreddits, such as r/Nintendo and r/SteamDeck, allow the posting of screenshots, while others, such as r/WOW, ban even images.

The main reasons for such decisions are the recent actions of Twitter owner Elon Musk, including his participation in the inauguration of President Trump and a gesture similar to the Nazi salute. In addition, they note a decrease in the level of moderation and an increase in the amount of hateful content on the platform.

A moderator of the r/PCGaming community under the nickname Shock4ndAwe noted: "X is becoming increasingly hateful, toxic and less moderated. This makes us feel less comfortable allowing our community to reference it."

The r/WOW community, which has more than 3 million members, said a combination of "recent political events" and X's declining reliability as a news source contributed to their decision.
