Will Mass Effect wait? BioWare employees become the fifth team to work on the next Battlefield instalment

Yesterday we reported that according to the famous screenwriter and BioWare veteran Mark Darrah, as of November 2024 the new Mass Effect, announced in 2020, was at the pre-production stage, as the whole team was busy with Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and after its release the developers were sent to help other Electronic Arts studios.
It seems that Mass Effect will be in such a state for a long time, because it became known that instead of being closely involved in the development of the cult space opera, BioWare employees received another task.
Here's What We Know
One of the lead developers of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Harel Eilam, who worked on the game economy and mathematical models of player progression and battle balance, in his Linkedin profile indicated that from January 2025 he became the narrative designer of the new Battlefield as part of a programme of experience exchange among studios Electronic Arts.

It makes sense that many of his colleagues are also involved with the new online shooter, and that's odd for two reasons:
- Four studios - DICE (lead developer), Criterion Games, Motive and Ripple Effect - are already working on the next instalment of Battlefield, and everything is led by experienced game director Vince Zampella, who previously headed Respawn Entertainment.
- It's not quite clear how RPG specialists will help in creating an online shooter, as these are completely different genres and require specific skills to work with them.
It is believed that the new Battlefield instalment could be released in late 2025, and Electronic Arts has high hopes for the game and calls it "the most ambitious project in its history".
