Unveiled on 22 January, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series smartphones appeared to be the first devices to officially support Snapdragon Satellite technology.

Here's What We Know

The feature allows users to send and receive messages via satellite using narrowband networks (NB) on non-terrestrial networks (NTN). Qualcomm confirmed the feature in a press release after the launch of the S25 series. Snapdragon Satellite is part of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, more specifically its Snapdragon X80 5G modem. However, Samsung is yet to activate satellite support on its flagships.

The feature is expected to be region-specific and Samsung will have to release a software update before users can start using satellite connectivity.

It is not yet known how Samsung will charge for the feature and which regions will get access to it.
