Serbian Army receives latest French GM400 and GM200 radars
The Serbian Army has received the latest French GM400 and GM200 multi-purpose radars. According to the Serbian Ministry of Defence, the 126th Air Surveillance Brigade has taken possession of these systems.
Here's What We Know
Soldiers are trained to detect targets with different flight paths at different altitudes. The GM200 is similar to the GM400 due to the use of similar technologies. The Ministry of Defence stressed that the procurement of these radars has significantly improved the ability of aviation and missile units to target air targets.
The GM400 multi-purpose radars arrived in Serbia in 2023. The country has ordered a total of four GM400 stations, which, together with GM200, GM60 and GS40, will provide full radar coverage of the territory of Serbia.

The GM400 radar, developed by the French company Thales in 2007, has a range of air target detection of up to 470 km, and in the Alpha version - up to 515 km. The use of an active phased array S-band antenna ensures the detection of subtle targets at long distances and allows for focusing on individual targets.
The station is equipped with a single rotating array that makes up to 10 revolutions per minute. In addition, research is underway to introduce artificial intelligence that will automatically classify targets and mark potentially dangerous objects.
