Tesla has updated the US localisation of its website, adding information about the updated Model Y Juniper crossover, which previously debuted in China. Only one configuration is now available, the Long Range with all-wheel drive in the "Launch Series" version. U.S. deliveries are scheduled to begin in March with prices starting at $59,990 excluding shipping, taxes and incentives. That's about $12,000 more expensive than a similar version of the current-generation Model Y.

Here's What We Know

The updated Model Y gets a slight increase in range - 320 miles (514 kilometres) compared to 311 miles (500 kilometres) for the current Long Range AWD version. Acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is down to 4.1 seconds from 4.8 seconds previously. The design is more streamlined, with new front and rear light clusters. The cabin gets an additional 8-inch touchscreen for rear row passengers, improved acoustics and front seat ventilation. A turn signal indicator paddle switch has also been added, a departure from the company's minimalist design approach.

It's worth noting that Tesla is still continuing to sell the previous version of the Model Y alongside the updated version for now. With a choice of additional options including a performance package, extra colours and a seven-seat configuration.

The Model Y is Tesla's best-selling vehicle. The updated version aims to maintain consumer interest and strengthen the company's position in the electric car market.
