Land Rover has announced a recall of more than 31,000 vehicles from the 2023 Discovery Sport, 2023-2024 Defender and 2023 Range Rover Evoque models due to a problem with the centre console touch screens. When the vehicle is started, the screen may go blank, causing the rearview camera image to be lost. This is a violation of US federal safety standards.

Here's What We Know

The problem occurs due to a mismatch in the synchronisation of the touchscreen clock. Between April 2023 and November 2024, Land Rover received 1,025 complaints and reports of this fault in the US. The investigation was originally launched in March 2024, but after initial testing, it was closed without further action. However, as the number of complaints increased, the investigation was reopened in October 2024.

Owners of the models in question will be sent a recall notice by 14 March 2025. Dealers will update the centre console touchscreen software to address the issue. The recall has been given the number N972.

In addition, about 3,000 vehicles with the problem are being recalled in Canada.
