Battlefield 6 conducts large-scale playtests to prevent the recurrence of failed launches

EA and DICE are actively preparing for the release of the next instalment of the Battlefield series, scheduled for 2025. After the criticism related to the releases of Battlefield V in 2018 and Battlefield 2042 in 2021, the developers decided to change their approach to game development and testing.

Here's What We Know

According to Insider Gaming, the new Battlefield instalment received the largest resources in the history of the franchise. Four studios are working on the project: DICE, Motive, Criterion Games, and Ripple Effect. Particular attention is paid to player feedback: frequent playtests are held with the participation of external players, which allows collecting a significant amount of data and feedback. This approach is aimed at avoiding the mistakes of previous releases.

The new game is expected to return to the series' origins, offering 64-player battles, complete environmental destruction, and a modern setting. It is also planned to return the classic system with four character classes. In addition, Ripple Effect is working on a free-to-play Battle Royale mode that will be integrated with the main game, similar to the success of Call of Duty: Warzone.

The developers hope that such measures will help restore community trust and return the Battlefield series to its former glory.
