Marvel Rivals developers are probably deliberately adding references to random characters in the game's files to confuse dataminers
Dataminers are actively digging through the files of the online action game Marvel Rivals in an attempt to be the first to find out which of the characters the developers will add to the game next.
A few days ago it was reported that NetEase will introduce members of the X-Men team, including their non-walking leader Professor Xavier, who is a powerful telepath. But it's hard to imagine him as a playable character in such a dynamic game as Marvel Rivals, and this led the community to the idea that the developers purposely prescribed in the game files references to playable characters to confuse dataminers.
Here's What We Know
Proponents of the theory of such a cunning solution NetEase are known in the community of Marvel Rivals fans users under the nicknames Keone and VISCERAL.
Thus, Keone in the Discord-server Marvel Rivals Leak expressed confidence that the developers deliberately leave mentions of characters who are not going to be added to the game. Moreover, he believes that in this way the developers are not only trying to confuse the dataminers, but also want to find out from which departments the information is leaked.
In turn, VISCERAL does not confirm this theory directly, but noted that the mention in the files of Marvel Rivals any of the characters does not guarantee his appearance in the game.
Reputable insider Tom Henderson has expressed scepticism about such a conspiracy theory and believes that characters are simply forgotten to be removed after a change of plans during production.
Well, the appearance in the game Human Torch and The Thing is officially confirmed, but Professor Xavier or Gambit are still under a big question, although it is impossible not to admit that the addition of such iconic characters would be quite logical.
