Mazda will update its emblem for the first time in 28 years

According to Nikkei, Mazda has decided to update its logo for the first time since 1997. The Japanese carmaker has adapted the image for better perception on digital platforms, making it flat and minimalistic.
There has been no official announcement from the company yet, it is expected later. For now, Mazda websites are still using the old image.
Here's What We Know
The updated logo retains the recognisable oval surrounding the letter 'M', but is now made with clean lines and a monochrome colour scheme. This simplification is intended to improve the display of the emblem on smartphone screens and other gadgets.

The new simplified design was first revealed online in July 2024, when Mazda registered it as a trade mark with the Japan Patent Office. Although the logo has ditched the metallic texture, sharp edges and layered depth of its predecessor, it remains an unmistakably recognisable Mazda logo.
This move by Mazda is in line with a general trend in the automotive industry to simplify branding. Previously, companies such as Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Nissan have implemented similar changes, adapting their logos to modern trends.
