WhatsApp may end support on iPhone 6 Plus by the middle of this year

Popular messenger WhatsApp will stop supporting some older iPhone models, including the iPhone 6 Plus, from mid-2025, according to a new report.
Here's What We Know
The latest beta version of the app includes a notification for users of older devices that WhatsApp will no longer work after this date. The changes will also affect business users.
The iPhone 6 Plus, which was one of the most popular smartphones on the market in 2014-2015, has long been outdated and now users of this model will not be able to use WhatsApp. The latest beta version of the app (25.1.10.72) is the first to lose compatibility with older versions of the iOS operating system. This confirms previous reports that WhatsApp will start limiting support for older versions of iOS from 5 May 2025.

The changes will affect devices that can only run iOS 15.1, which means that older models such as the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, and 5s will not be able to update to use WhatsApp. However, iPhone 7 and newer models will remain compatible with the app.
Those still using older devices can try to keep the old beta version of WhatsApp without updating. However, this will limit access to new features in the app in the future.
WhatsApp is also testing a feature for iOS that will allow you to switch between multiple accounts on one gadget. This will allow users with two phone numbers to store all their conversations in one app, instead of using two separate apps for different accounts.
