Galaxy S22 gets January 2025 security update in Europe: new firmware versions available

Samsung recently released the latest security update for the Galaxy S22 series. Initially, the update was only available in the US, but now it has begun to roll out in several European countries.

Here's What We Know

The Galaxy S22 series, including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, received the January 2025 security update in Europe. The update is based on firmware version S90xBXXSDEXL1 and includes the January 2025 security patch, which fixes several dozen vulnerabilities found in previous software.

Below are the detailed firmware versions:

  • Galaxy S22: S901BXXSDEXL1
  • Galaxy S22+: S906BXXSDEXL1
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra: S908BXXSDEXL1

If you live in Europe and have a Galaxy S22 series smartphone, you can check for the new update by going to Settings: Settings" Software update" Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and install it manually.

When will Galaxy S22 get One UI 7.0 update?

Samsung plans to release the One UI 7.0 update based on Android 15 for the Galaxy S22 series in the coming weeks. The Galaxy S25 was the first smartphone to come with One UI 7.0, and the software will be available for other compatible devices in the near future.

The Galaxy S22 series was launched with Android 12 in 2022, followed by Android 13 in late 2022 and Android 14 in late 2023.

It was recently reported that Samsung smartphones supporting One UI 7.0 will soon receive a new security feature.
